Vera Artis

Mother Vera Artis, 82, of 2107 Fieldcrest Road, Wilson, NC passed away on January 30, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, February 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Contending for The Faith Chuch Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC.

A public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Mother Artis was preceded in death by her parents, Elgin Artis and Maud Sherrod Artis; two brothers, James Earl Artis and Melvin Artis and one sister, Irene Artis Horton.

She leaves precious memories to: her husband, Mr. Leslie Artis of the home; two sons, Leslie Carl Artis (Freida) of Wake Forest, NC and Ronald Earl Artis (Wanda) of Dallas Texas; two daughters, Cindy Lu Forbes (Lafan) and Carolyn Yvonne Barnes both of Wilson, NC; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Ozie Artis of Stantonsburg, NC; four sisters-in-law, Nellie Artis, Marjorie Allen, Minnie Ashford and Delores Gray all of Wilson, NC; three special friends, Betty Barnes, Georgia Hall and Maebelle Barron all of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including, a special niece, Vernell Artis Harper.

The family will receive friends at the residence where they will assemble on Friday at 12:00 noon in preparation for the funeral procession.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
