Lessie Smith

Mother. Lessie Smith, age 92, of 107 Carver Drive, Snow Hill, NC passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. 

Funeral arrangements for Mother Smith has been scheduled for Sunday, January 25, 2015, 2:00 pm at L.N. Forbes Tabernacle, 1800 Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  The committal service will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery located on Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC. Bishop James Leftwridge will deliver the Words of Comfort.

Mother Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Supervisor Kelly Lee Smith, Sr.; one daughter, Lillis Cleo Leverette; one son, Jeremiah Smith, four brothers, Charlie Jones Jr., George Wesley Jones, John Thomas Jones and James Arthur Jones and one sister, Emma Lee Jones.

She leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories; her children, Kelly Lee Smith Jr. (Mother Dorothy Smith), Elder Johnny Edwards Smith Sr. (Evangelist Doris Smith), Missionary Clara Shaw (Mickey Shaw), Evangelist Evelyn Joyner (Trustee Roy Joyner), Timothy Wayne Smith, Eloise Roundtree (James Earl Roundtree), Cynthia Anita Smith-Lewis and Shelia Renee Smith; forty-five grandchildren including a special grandson, raised from birth, Keith Warren Campbell; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; twenty-three great great grandchildren; one God-Daughter, Minister Frances Williams; one God-Sister, Mother Aldonia Williams; two special friends including a family care-taker, Sister Stella Richardson and Mother Mildred Speight whom was also a devoted daily encourager and host of other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Maritn Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.  The public visitation will reconvine at Washington Branch Church located at 716 Washington Branch Church Road, Snow Hill, NC from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. 

The family will present to greet friends beginning at 5:30 pm.  An inspirational wake service honoring the life of Mother Lessie Smith will begin at 6:00 pm at Washington Branch Church.
