Homegoing Services

Homegoing services for Mrs. Frances Nadine Jenkins Rhodes is scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 1:00 pm at L.N. Forbes Tabernacle, 1801 Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  The committal service will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  Reverend Herbert A. Joyner will deliver the Words of Comfort. 

A public visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.  The family will be present from 6pm to 7pm to greet friends. 

Reflections of Life

Frances Nadine Jenkins Rhodes, daughter of Thelma Marie Jenkins Bunch and the late Deacon Jasper Taylor Sr. was born on July 23,1951 in Wilson, North Carolina and departed this life on Sunday, November 29,2015 at Wilson Medical Center.

Frances married the love of her life, Herbert, on October 12, 1974. Together they built a beautiful union that inspires those who knew them. The love that they have for one another is radiating and eternal. One would only be so blessed to experience such a love.

Frances is a woman of God who unconditionally loves her family. Not only her biological family, but everyone she came in contact with, She loves laughter and music and would always "encourage" her children and grandchildren to put on a show for everyone to see. She was the original American ldol.

Frances graduated from Charles H. Darden High School in 1970. She later received a certificate of completion from the Angel Way Missionary Bible Institute to do the work of the ministry for the building up of the Body of Christ.

Frances has been a member of the United Order of Tents, Handy Jewell Tent #678 for over 30 years. Frances was a leader in this fraternal organization for many years and was ultimately awarded "Leader of the Year" during that time.

Frances is also a faithful and dedicated member of Great Restoration Church Ministries, Pastored by Reverend Herbert A. Joyner and Prophetess Marian B. Joyner. She is an Usher and an Elder and served on several committees. Frances loves her church family!

Upon returning to Wilson after her husband's retirement from the US Marine Corps, she became a dedicated employee of Wal-Mart in Wilson, NC where she was employed for 15 years.

Frances was preceded in death by:  her grandson, Christian D. McNeil; her father, Deacon Jasper Taylor; her uncle, Roosevelt Jenkins, who reared her as his own; her brother, Franjusta Bunch; her mother-in-law, Mary Everette Edwards and her sister-in-law, Ann Shirley Bailey.

She leaves to honor and continue her legacy of love: her husband, Herbert Rhodes Jr., of the home; her mother, Thelma Marie Jenkins Bunch, of the home; five children, Kelvin L. Rhodes (Lorinda) of Murietta, CA, Rosalind Michelle McNeil (Ervin) of Chapel Hill, NC, Tonya L. Rhodes of Wilson, NC, Tavares L. Rhodes (Consquello) of Wilson, NC and Tenika R. Rhodes of Raleigh, NC;  a special niece, Jaqueline M. Bailey of Wilson, NC; ten grandchildren, Donyea R. Rhodes, Ebone L. Rhodes, Tymel L. Rhodes, Franklin T. Ward Jr., Kiaira B. Rhodes, Tierra S. Bynum, Tavares L. Rhodes Jr., Donaven L. Rhodes, Ariel M. Peterson and Angelica M. Peterson; one great grandchild, Xavier J. Faison and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including Brenda Dawson, Dorothy Serious, and Minister Gwendolyn Williams; and Great Restoration Ministries church family.
