Mrs. Barbara Darden, 83, of Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, NC, passed away on June 24, 2016.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Rapha Church of God, 3736 Weaver Road, Wilson, NC.  The committal services will follow in Hamilton Burial Gardens located on Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, North  Carolina.

Barbara G. Darden, daughter of the late Purley Floyd and Lula Mae Dixon Buckhanna, was born on June 3, 1933 in Greene, North Carolina. She departed this earthly life for her eternal home after eighty-three glorious years on Friday June 24, 2016 at Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, North Carolina.

Barbara was reared and educated in Wilson County. She was united in Holy matrimony and was a good wife to her late husband, James A. Darden. Unto this union, five beautiful children were born. Barbara was a great mother, who loved her family. She provided for her family by working many years at Tobacco Processors. She enjoyed cooking the family favorites,  fishing, watching the neighborhood children play and most of all working in her beloved flower garden.  Most importantly, Barbara knew and believed in her heart that Jesus is Christ and she was a born again Christian.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Darden, ; one son Clarence Darden, one sister Katie Rossen, her parents, Purley Floyd and Lula Mae Dixon Buckhanna; three brothers Alan Dixon, Sylvester Dixon, and Joseph Dixon.

She leaves her loving memories to her two    daughters, Dorothy Darden and Connie Ballard (Clyde) of Wilson NC; two sons, Dennis Darden (Marjorie) of Fountain NC and Danny Darden of Germany; four grandchildren, Andre Darden, Teresa Darden, Michelle Darden and Quaneisha Ruffin; seven great-grandchildren, Tameritris, Jonathan, Glen Jr., Tynisha, Delicia, Jada, and Shanaya; one great-great grandchild, Lashay; five sisters, Sarah Smith, Beatrice Thomas,    Ardelia Sanders, Annie Pearl Pearson and Faye Dixon; three brothers, James Dixon, Curtis Lee Dixon and   Larry Dixon; a dear niece, Barbara Weston; two special friends, Stanley Patterson and Ellen Melvin and a host of other relatives and friends. 

A public viewing will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
