Mr. Vernon Lee Battle, Jr. , 38, of 513 Thurston Drive, Wilson, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at Wilson Medical Center, in Wilson, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. Pastor Bryant McNeil will deliver the message of comfort. The burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.
The public walk-through is scheduled for Friday, May 7, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Preceding him in death were: his grandparents, Bobby J. Ruffin, Beulah Battle and Tommy Battle, Sr.; his great grandparents, Plummer Ruffin and Mary Ruffin; four uncles, Tommy Battle, Jr., Donald Battle, Jerome Ruffin and Nathan Ruffin; one aunt, Mary Ann Battle.
Precious and loving memories are left to: his devoted parents, Vernon Lee Battle, Sr. and Sandra Lee Battle of the home; three sisters, Annjennette Morgan (Derrick) of Rocky Mount, NC, April Grantham of Wilson, NC and Cassandra Batchelor (Darry) of Rocky Mount, NC; one brother, Lauren V. Williams (Ashley) of Wilson, NC; four nieces, Tesaih Grantham, Tiana Grantham, Princess Locus and Curiney Cain; four nephews, Raquawn Anderson, Mallory Cain, Jr., Markel Canady and Lavoris Grantham, Jr.; nine aunts, Shirley Ruffin, Josephine Carter, Cheryl Webb, Sheila Battle, Cleo Thomas (Robert), Janice Ruffin, Hilda Moore, Ilene Barnes and Dorsey Ruffin; six uncles, Jay Ruffin, Sylvester Ruffin, Eddie Ruffin (Gwen), Ricky Ruffin, Clay Ruffin (Doretha) and Christopher Ruffin; a host of cousins including special cousins, Carl Ruffin, Brianna Langston, Edwin Langston, Jr., Linwood Ruffin, Alice Batts, Shangi Cowan, Jr., Martina Battle, Tamika Battle and James Taylor, Jr., other loving relatives and many friends including special friends and neighbor, Paul and Ora Mae Williams.
