Velma Jean Woodard Lucas

Mrs. Velma Jean Woodard Lucas, 82, of 5402-C Brewer Court Wilson, NC, passed away on June 4, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Sandy Fork Missionary Baptist Church, 6111 Horne's Church Road, Wilson, NC.  The committal services will follow in Lucas Estates Cemetry, 5402 Brewer Court, Wilson, NC.  Prophet Kimberly Lucas will deliver the Words of Comfort.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Preceding her in death were: her husband, Willard Roy Lucas; one daughter, Cathy Lynn Lucas; her parents, George and Rosebud Woodard; siblings, Marian Ross, Shirley Woodard and George Calvin Woodard, Jr.

She leaves precious memories to: two daughters, Betty Sowell and Theresa Barnes (Kenny); four sons, Victor Lucas, Vincent Lucas, Willard Roy Lucas, Jr. (Teresa) and Milton Lucas (Darlene); thirteen grandchildren, Marquitta Love, Raymond   Briscoe, Emmanuel Lucas, Gregory Sowell, Eric Lucas, Willard Lucas III, Jeremey Lucas (Shay), Britany Patrick (Dwayne),Felicia Simms, Alicia Simms, Tiffany Lucas, Kenny Barnes and Kendra Barnes; ten great-grandchildren, Tyler Love, Markel Love, Malik Love, Marisha Best, Malik Best, Amyia Sowell, Aah’Breya Jones, Omri Patrick, Jeremiah Lucas and Marley Sowell; one  sister-in-law, Elder Margaret Headen and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
