Mr. Tommie Lee Barnes, 81, of Wilson, NC, passed away on October 5, 2020, at the Brian Center of Wilson.
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC.
A public walk through visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Preceding him in death were: his parents, Collie Barnes (Mercy) and Cora Bullock; three brothers, John H. Dortch, Jr., Larry J. Dortch and William H. Dortch and two sisters, Alma G. Dortch and Effie D. Miles; one aunt, whom raised him. Mattie “Doll” Tyson.
Left to cherish and hold dear to Tommie’s memories are: two sons, Kenneth Barnes and Tommy Barnes, Jr., both of Wilson, NC; four daughters, Deborah Mason, Angelia Barnes, Shelia Barnes and Priscilla Barnes (Kevin) all of Wilson, NC; twenty-three grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Ann (Jean) Fitzgerald and Cynthia McNeil, both of Baltimore, MD and Corinthia Carter of Glen Burnie, MD; four brothers, Kevin Townes of Tuscon, AZ, Collie Barnes (Willie) of Hattiesburg, MS, Calvin Barnes of Newport News, VA and Earl Barnes of Hagerstown, MD; one uncle, Wilbur Bullock (Annie) of Snellville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including a special nephew, Dennis Bullock-Bey of Baltimore, MD, two special cousins, Sylvia Tyson and Joe Newton, both of Wilson, NC, two special friends, Lesse Barnes and Nehemiah Artis, both of Wilson, NC and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
