Ms. Shelia Veronica Hines Joyner, 60, passed away, Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at UNC Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Evening Light Holiness Church, 208 S. Pender Street, Wilson, NC. Pastor Mary Jo Atkinson will officiate and Bishop Willie Thomas will preside. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L. N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.
The public viewing is scheduled for Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.
Proceeding Shelia in death were: her husband, Anthony Joyner, her parents, Mary Elizabeth Herring Hines and Wallace Hines; and her canine babies, “Zues”, “Tiger”, “Max,” and “Cimba”.
Left to forever cherish Shelia’s memory are: one son, Clifton E. Hines of Wilson, North Carolina; two daughters, Evangelist Mary H. Bland of Wilson, North Carolina, and Claudette Christopher (Harold) of Jacksonville, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, Talaya, Chaika, Abijah, Chioma, Joseph, Gabriel, Nijel, Neerjah, Noah, Nevin, Nicholas, Nolan, Detrell, Jevon, and Jalea; three great-grandchildren, Surayyah, Samuel, and Samona; five sisters, Reverend Carolyn Willis, Vernice Hines, Cynthia H. Woodard (Walter), Sylvia H. Ray (Joseph) all of Wilson, North Carolina, and Nebraska H. Kelly (Charles) of Laurel, Maryland; one uncle, Bobby Blue of Wilson, North Carolina; three nieces, Carol, Bernika, and Melissa; three nephews, Anthony, Jamal, and Kendell; three great-nieces; five great nephews; one great-great niece; ten Godchildren, Tammy, Ronnie, Anthony “Tony”, Laura, Michael, Kanautica “Redd”, Thomas “Snoop”, Empress, and Dennis; and a host of loving relatives, friends, including special friends, Margaret Glenn “Pig” and family, Haywood Blue, the West, Battle, Boone, and McCoy families; and her special canine companions, “Busy” and “Gizzy”.
