Sarah Lee Dew Obituary

Ms. Sarah Lee Dew, 79, of Washington, DC, formerly of Wilson, NC, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at Caroll County Hospital in Westminister, MD.  She was born on October 2, 1942 to the proud parents of Albert Dew and Alsie Mae Yalverton Dew.

The funeral service is scheduled for Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  The burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L. N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.  There will be a public visitation at Freeman Funeral Home, 7201 Old Alexander Ferry Road, Unit 4-C, Clinton, MD on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  There will also be a public visitation on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

Sarah was one of eight children.  She received her formal education at Elizabeth City High School in North Carolina.  As a young adult, Sarah moved to Washington, DC  in the early 1960's.  There, she was fortunate to meet a lifetime partner, Arthur Williams, who preceded her in death.  He was an excellent provider for Sarah and the family.  

Sarah was a faithful member of Faith Temple No. 2 in Seat Pleasant, MD until her health declined.  She had strong faith even when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011.  She did not give up and was a survivor.  She continued to provide a home of love and care for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; her siblings, Ollie Ray Dew, Bonnie Dew, Annie Mae Carter, Aget Dew and James Albert Dew; two nieces, Barbara McFadden and Pamela Dew and two nephews, James McFadden and Robert E. Dew.

Sarah leaves many loving and cherished memories to:  her son, Dexter Lee Dew; her daughter, Angel Yvonne Dew; her eldest sister, Devonnie Stone; her youngest brother, James Walter Dew; eight grandchildren, Tristen Dew, Anonhka Kalease Dew, Sashua Dew, Terrence Minor, Clarence Minor, Dexter Dew, Deon Dew and Imani Adams; four nieces, Lashawn Dew, Shanita Roberson, Melva Dew, and Kimberly Williams; three nephews, Albert Ray McFadden, Andre Roberson and Anthony Williams; and a host of grands and great grands of her nieces whom she was very proud of.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
