Staff Sergeant Elmer Lee Powell, 85, of 111 Raleigh Road Parkway West, Wilson, NC, passed away on June 4, 2020, at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Wilson Chapel F.W.B. Church, 513 E. Barnes Street, Wilson, NC. Dr. Debora C. Powell will deliver the eulogy and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, 2704 Nash Street, Wilson, NC. A public viewing is scheduled from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC on Wedenesday, June 10, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Powell and Lillie Kent Powell and his sister, Josephine Cooper.
Mr. Powell leaves loving and cherished memories to: his wife, Janie R. Powell of the home; one daughter, Dr. Debora C. Powell of Wilson, NC; two grandchildren, Ashley S. Proctor and Bobby Earl Proctor, II (Takierra), all of Greensboro, NC; one great grandchild, Ivy S. Proctor of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, David R. Powell of Goldsboro, NC and George Powell (Jane) of New York; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a special friend who assisted in his caregiving, Bishop Bobby E. Proctor of Rocky Mount, NC.
