Senior Master Sergeant George Johnson, Jr., 91, of 1103 Porter Street, Goldsboro, NC, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Brian Center, Goldsboro, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 noon on Monday April 5, 2021 at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Marti Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. The burial will follow in Rocky Branch Church Cemetery, Kenly, NC.
A public walk through is also scheduled for Monday, April 5, 2021 from 11:00 am until 11:45 prior to the service at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
SMSgt George was preceded in death by: his parents, George Bland and Katie Keith; one brother, James “JC” Curtis; two sisters, Ethel Lee Peterson and Lois Peterson; one aunt, Nora Smith; one uncle, Nathan Smith; five nephews, Rufus Peterson, David “Skinny” Allen Peterson, Gregory Peterson, Kenneth Peterson, and Larry Peterson; two nieces, Veatrice Peterson and Kathy Walker.
Precious and fun-loving memories are remembered by: his loving and devoted wife, Louretha Johnson of the home; two daughters, Grace Jones (Rollin) of Lawrenceville, GA and Cassandra Austin of Goldsboro, NC; two sons, Dietrich Ricks of Tampa, FL and Michael Johnson of Goldsboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Jamal Austin and Jatara Austin, both of Orlando, FL, Brittany Renard (Martin) of Snellville, GA, Bria Adams of Washington, DC, Damien Jones (Jamila) of Halethrope, MD, Lisa Jones of Pittsburg, PA, and Brianna Jones of Nashville, TN; a special great niece, Nijah Clark of Louisville, KY; eleven great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Clark of Washington, DC; dear and loving nieces, Patsy Billups, Karen Knight, Robin Walker, Kim Walker, LaWanda Peterson, and Carmen Peterson; one supportive nephew, Daniel Peterson of Pulaski, VA and one supportive niece Niger Peterson of Ingold, NC; two very thoughtful cousins, who will truly miss him as well, Lawrence McCleod and Ethel Lee Tatum; and a special shout out to all the wonderful cousins and friends who walked with him throughout his life’s journey, much love to you all!
