Mr. Rufus "Boot" Eddie Smith, 91, of 200 Broad Street, Statonsburg, NC, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, at Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Wilson, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC. Reverend Paul Sewell will deliver the Words of Comfort. The burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.
The public walk-through is scheduled from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by: one daughter, Miriam Suggs; one granddaughter, Tresha Latham; his parents, Crum Smith and Ella Jane Edmundson Smith; five sisters, Geneva Anderson, Bessie Barnes, Hattie Mae Smith, Minnie Barrett and Mary Pearl Parker; four brothers, Moses Smith, Thomas Smith, Bruton Smith and Crum Smith.
He leaves loving and cherished memories to: his loving and devoted wife, Flora Smith of the home; two daughters, Vivian Atkinson (Elder Anthony) and Dawn Woodard (Tracy), both of Wilson, NC; three sons, Calvin Suggs (Cornelia) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Jimmie Suggs (Charlette) of Temple Hills, MD and Aaron Murdock Suggs of the home; twelve grandchildren, Reggie (Jennifer), Nikki (Quentin), Anthony, Jr. (Laura), Tatiana, Aaron, Jr., Paislei, Cierra, Monique, Kandice, Ashley, Tharon and Tharius; seventeen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, two brothers, Henry Smith (Edna Earl) and Willie James Smith, both of Wilson, NC; two nieces that were reared in the home with him, Ada Daniels (Clifton) of Stantonsburg and Mary Frederick of Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Artis of Temple Hills, MD and Ordred Pender (Dennis) of Clinton, MD; and brother-in-law, Selby Artis of Bowie, MD; other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
