Ms. Ruby Lee Chatman, 84, of 7539 Tedder Road, Lucama, NC, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Wilson Medical Center, Wilson, NC
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at First Baptist Church, 6161 Lucama Road, Lucama, NC. Pastor Jeffrey Simms will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street Wilson, NC.
A public walk-through visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 30, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Preceding Ruby in death were: her parents, Slade Chatman and Almenia Simms Chatman; one son, Ernest Lee Chatman; one sister, Betty Crumedy; and seven brothers, Ned Chatman, Ed Chatman, Freddie Chatman, Charlie Chatman, Willie Chatman, Earnest Chatman, and Joseph Chatman.
Ruby leaves many loving and cherished memories to: two daughters, Brenda Carter (Jasper) of the home and Gwendolyn Hinnant (Anthony) of Black Creek, North Carolina; two sons, Terry Chatman of Lucama, North Carolina and James Ray Chatman of Zebulon, North Carolina; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Virginia Carter of Baltimore, Maryland, Dorothy Bunch and Sylvia Carter of Lucama, North Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends, including special caregivers, Alena Green Spruill and Brenda Atkinson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
