Roland Rountree

Mr. Roland Rountree, 87, of Wilson, NC, passed away on August 19, 2018 at Wilson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center .

The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, August 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm also at Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Rountree was preceded in death by his wife, Odera Armstrong Sharp; his parents, Herbert Rountree and Elizabeth Batts Rountree; five brothers, Willie, Charlie, James, Floyd and Herbert, Jr. and one sister, Doris Rountree Farrington.

He leaves cherished memories to: one daughter, Gloria Rountree of Laurel, MD; one son, Bobby Ray Young of Elm City, NC; one grandson, Lamont Young of Plant City, FL; two granddaughters, Fenecia Thomas (Frank) of Virginia Beach, VA and Terry Ibrahim (Clark) of Raleigh, NC; six great grandchildren, Jada, Cameron, Corey, Laila, Jalen and Lodyn; two sisters, Daisy Barnes and Ruby Staton (Tommie) both of Wilson, NC; two brothers, Jesse Rountree (Inez) of Elm City, NC and Marvin Rountree (Betty) of Rocky Mount, NC; several nieces and nephews, including a dedicated nephew, John Barnes, Jr.; a host of other relatives and friends. 

The family will receive friends at the home of Daisy Rountree Barnes at 1110 Washington Street, Wilson, NC, where they will assemble on Friday at 12:00 noon in preparation for the funeral procession.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
