Retired Lieutenant Terry Vernard Sampson

Retired Lieutenant Terry Vernard Sampson, 60, of 4519 Ryan Street, Durham, NC passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Duke Reginal Hospital in Durham, NC.

The graveside service is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC. Dr. Ralph E. Love, Jr. will deliver the word of comfort.

A public walk-through is also scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the graveside service at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Terry is preceded in death by: Virginia “Gent” Branch, whom raised him; his father, Billy Ray Locus; two brothers, Frank “Frankie Ward and Jeffrey “Jet” Ward and one sister, Latasha Ward.

Left to cherish fond memories are:  two daughters, Kre’shonda Davis of Moultrie, GA and Sonja Mariah Sampson of Durham, NC; two sons, Kesean Speight (Tasha) of Wilson, NC and Tyquan Perry of Durham, NC; five grandchildren,    Denim Speight, Mikan Speight, Kre’Shonda Davis, Akaycius Davis, Kelsey Davis; his mother, Barbara Ann Ward of Baltimore, MD; step-mother, Alice Locus of Wilson, NC; three brothers, Billie Locus and Stanley Locus both of Wilson, NC and Ron Locus (Crystal) of Durham, NC; five sisters, Donna Wilson and Jackie Locus-McCray both of Wilson, NC, Barbara Cox-Bowden (James) of Long Island, NY, Deborah Ward of       Greenville, NC and Helen Ward of Baltimore, MD; seven aunts; three uncles; two great aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loving friends, including a very special long time friend, Joyce Anderson of Durham, NC.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
