Raymond Henry Rainey, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Raymond Rainey, Jr., 67, passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021, at Durham VA Medical Center in Durham, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Brown Chapel Baptist Church, 1507 Hadley Street, Wilson, NC.

A  public walk-through visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 16, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Preceding Raymond in death were his parents, Raymond Henry Rainey, Sr. and Dorothy Solomon Rainey; and his stepfather, Anderson Davis.

Raymond will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Nellie G. Rainey of the home; two stepsons, Donovan Phillips of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Oliver Phillips of Berlin, Maryland; two granddaughters whom he reared, Tamica Phillips and Shamica Phillips both of Morrisville, North Carolina; four sisters, Sophia Floyd and Terry Epperson (Floyd) both of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Joanie Rainey of Cary, North Carolina, and Andrea Green (Tasha) of LaCrosse, Virginia; four brothers, Carl Rainey, Sr. (Dora) of Philadelphia, Mississippi, Kenneth Rainey (Susan) of Miami, Florida, James Rainey, Sr. (Doris) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and Llewellyn Rainey (Sylvia) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; five sisters-in-law, Mary Sims of Wilson, North Carolina, Mary Allen, Leanna Ruffin, Shirlene Manning (Joseph) all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Joyce Ann Thigpen of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; four brothers-in-law, Percy Bowens (Peggy) and Nathaniel Phillips both of Wilson, North Carolina, Jake Phillips (Pauline) of  Robersonville, North Carolina, and Howard Phillips of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, North Carolina, 27893.
