Ms. Peggie Swain Brown, 81, of 400 Crestview Street, Wilson, NC, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Parkwood Village Assisted Living facility surrounded by loved ones.
The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. The eulogy will be delivered by her six children and a prayer of comfort delivered by her childhood friend, Evangelist Ernestine Edwards of (Christian Love Center, Capitol Heights, MD).
Preceding Peggie in death were her mother, Dorothy Inez Bullock Swain, her father, Dennis Swain, four brothers, Dennis Swain, Timothy Swain, Joe Willie Swain and Donald Swain; three sisters, Christine Swain, Jean Swain Bryant, Barbara “Pig” Swain Dixon.
Left to forever cherish Peggie’s indelible memory and legacy are her children: Irvin Michael “Chuck” Best of Jacksonville, FL, Sylvia Annette Best Bailey (Rick) of Washington, DC, Gwendolyn “Gwen” Best of Washington, DC, Larry Best of Lanham, MD, Sheila Best of Fayetteville, NC and Patricia Best Jackson (Harry), Gaithersburg, MD. Her sixteen grandchildren: Corey B. Best, Shiraki K. Ellis, Peggie Joyce Best (namesake), Ashley N. Best, Morgan J. Best Noels, Thomas E. Jones III, Cordney L. Best, Bianka S. Best, Michael I. Best, Matthew Best, Izaya Best, Jordan Whitlock, Joseph Whitlock, Jeremy Whitlock, Khiani Swann and Courtney Jackson, twenty-five great-grandchildren, her brother, Ronald Swain, her son by love, James Hines, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
