Mrs. Minnie Davis Pope, 91, of Wilson, NC, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022, at Brian Center in Goldsboro, N.C.
The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at St. James United Holy Church, 100 N. Main St., Stantonsburg, NC. Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Gardens, 1603 Bishop L.N. Forbes St., Wilson, NC.
A public walk-through visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 29, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by: her first husband, William Davis; her parents, Jim and Lizzie Williams Barnes, two sons, Greadly Davis and William Davis, Jr.; three sisters, Dorothy Horne, Lizzie Mae Williams and Odell Dawson; four brothers, Douglas Barnes, Alonza Barnes, James Williams and Jesse Gray.
She leaves many loving and cherished memories to: her husband, Edgar Pope of Wilson, NC; one son, Rick Davis (Suzanne) of Plano, TX; one daughter, Shirley Davis of Wilson, NC; one step-daughter, Rubie Pope of Maryland; a godson, Tony Graham of Wilson, NC; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Ray of Philadelphia, PA; three brothers, William Barnes (Nancy) and Roscoe Barnes, both of Elm City, NC and Robert Lee Barnes (Ada) of Virginia; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Davis of Wilson, NC; a sister-in-law, Christine Barnes Collins of Wilson, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Bishop Ernestine McGee and Sonya Ward and Sophia Hall, who were like a daughters to her.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.
