Mrs. Mary Irene Coley, 87, of 213 North Avenue, Wilson, NC, passed away on May 27, 2020, at her home.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday May 31, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC. Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden, Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC. District Elder Richard J. Coley will deliver the eulogy.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC with an inspirational wake service from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Mrs. Coley was preceded in death by her husband Roney Coley; daughter, Christine Coley Ashby; parents, Marcellous Woodard and Adlonia Fields Woodard; siblings, Evangelist Elizabeth Howell, Thelma Hexstall, Ethel Brown, Mollie Woodard, Jessie James Woodard, Reverend Calvin Woodard, Wilt Williams, Hersey Williams, Tom Raye, Alonzo Woodard, Marcellous Woodard, Marvin Woodard, Bobby Woodard and Rex Woodard.
She leaves many cherished memories to: one son, District Elder Richard Coley (Monica) of Bowie, MD; three daughters, Peggy Hinnant of Lucama, NC, Francine Howell (Raymond) and Irene Coley both of Wilson, NC; thirteen grandchildren including Grenda Coley, whom she reared; twenty five great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; three sisters, Marjorie Horne of Stantonsburg, NC, Annie Davis of Eureka, NC and Lona Anderson of Wilson, NC; five brothers, Andrew Woodard of Farmville, NC, Roscoe Woodard and Donald Woodard both of Wilson, NC, Roosevelt Woodard (Sudie) of Baltimore, MD and Brodie Williams (Minnie) of Dudley, NC; one aunt, Deloris Harris of Fayetteville, NC; one brother-in-law, Bobby G. Howell of Fremont, NC; one sister-in-law, Leatrice Woodard of Fremont, NC; one Goddaughter, Katrina Kirby of Wilson, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home, where they will assemble on Sunday at 1:00 pm in preparation for the funeral procession.
