Kenan "Ken" Lamont Newton

Funeral services for Mr. Kenan Lamont Newton affectionately known as “Ken” is scheduled for June 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm and will be held at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC.  The committal services will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden on Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  Pastor D. Royal will deliver the Words of Comfort.

On August 7, 1974, Ken, was born to Connie Speight and Doretha Peoples in Wilson, NC.  He made his Heavenly Debut on June 10, 2016. 

Ken was preceded in death by his parents; Connie Speight and Doretha Peoples; grandfathers, James Earl Perkins and Charles Reid and a step-grandfather, Herman Brown.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories; one son, Dionte Alston of Wilson; one daughter, Kendra Necole Newton of Wilson;  his maternal grandmother, Mother Dorothy H. Brown of Wilson, NC and his paternal grandmother, Agnes Speight of Stantonsburg, NC; his stepfather, Leroy White; two brothers, Marcus White of Wilson, NC and Cedric Council of Stantonsburg, NC; two sisters, LaKesha White of Wilson, NC and Diane Joyner of Stantonsburg, NC; eight aunts, Sandra D. Newton, Deanna Peoples (Ronnie) and Karen Lynn Lewis all of Wilson, NC, Linda Farmer and Annie Speight both of Stantonsburg, NC, Betty Thompson of Goldsboro, NC, Therethra Speight of Charlotte, NC and Patricia Webb of Maryland; three uncles, Melvin D. Speight of Stantonsburg, NC, Moses S. Speight (Yvonne) and Steven Speight of Asheboro, NC; five nieces, Jasmine Carmichael, Tiffani Vick, Sonasia Bunch, Nikki Joyner and Carmen Council; seven nephews, Jakwon Carmichael, Shontez Carmichael, Messiah Jenkins, Devon Joyner, LeBarron Joyner, Connor R. Council and Christian Dingle; five special cousins, Stephon Boose, Joseph Hinnant, Jimmy Speight and Calvin E. Melton all of Wilson, NC and Torey Newton of Raleigh, NC; his Goddaughter, Zheneazia Z. Speight; a special friend, Alfonzo Robinson of Wilson, NC and a host of other loving cousins, family members and friends.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.
