June Applewhite Obituary

 

Mr. June Applewhite, 91, of 2013 Worth Drive E., Wilson, NC, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022, at Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehab, Wilson, NC surrounded by his loving family.

 

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 12 noon at Christ Temple of Praise, 1407 Tarboro Street, Wilson, NC.  Pastor Latoya Brewington will deliver the Word of Comfort. The burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L. N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.

The public walk-through visitation is scheduled from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022  at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence, 2013 Worth Drive E., Wilson, NC and will also assemble there on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.  

Mr. Applewhite was fortunate to have two sets of parents.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, Hardy Reid and Lila Ruffin and Robert and Maudie Applewhite; his son, Samuel Williams; his siblings, George Ruffin, O.Z. Ruffin, Bill Ruffin, Frank Applewhite, John Applewhite, James Applewhite, Robert Applewhite, Roy Chester Applewhite, Clarke Reid, Bruce Ward, Lila Ruffin, Mary Hester Ruffin, Mary Applewhite, Carolyn Applewhite, Evon Reid, and Alvera Anderson.

He leaves many loving and cherished memories to:  his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Sarah Cleo Applewhite of the home; two sons, Clyde Applewhite (Kimberly) of Wilson, NC and Octavious Ferguson of Neptune, NJ; five daughters, Linda Blount (Lester) of Westampton, NJ, Brenda Brewington (Lamont) of Wilson, NC, Jacqueline Phillips (Keith) of Piscataway, NJ; Sharon Jones (Robert) and Mary Cathy Collins, both of Wilson, NC; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Elizabeth Williams of Wilson, NC, Carol Cherry Earle (William) of Chesapeake, VA, Gloria Parker and Fannie Applewhite, both of Wilson, NC; one brother, Douglas Applewhite of Wilson, NC; one aunt, Eleanor Compton of Washington, DC; four sisters-in-law, Daisy Credle (Hubert) of Bayboro, NC, Mattie King of Far Rockaway, NY, Jean Ruffin of Wilson, NC and Lugene Williams of Durham, NC; one brother-in-law, William Anderson of Kenly, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
