Joyce Spells Miles Obituary

Ms. Joyce Spells Miles, 82, of 2212 Imperial Ave., Wilson, NC, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at L.N. Forbes OFWB Tabernacle, 1800 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC. Bishop Stanley Hicks will preside and Pastor Maurice Barnes will deliver the Words of Comfort. The burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.

The public visitation is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. The family will be present from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and the Eastern Stars Honorary Ceremony will commence during this hour as well.

Preceding Joyce in death were: her mother, Ometa Spells Barnes; and her sister, Juanita Barnes Artis.

Precious memories of Joyce will forever linger in the hearts of: her loving, devoted, and caring daughter, Karen Miles, her son, Orin Mark Miles, and her grandson, Jaden Miles, all of Wilson, North Carolina. She will also be missed by: two sisters, Jean Spells and Alice Artis, both of Wilson, North Carolina; one brother, Leroy Barnes (Velma) of Wilson, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Vella Allen of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her godsons, Brian Paxton (Dwan) of Atlanta, Georgia and Vanzell Woodard (Gentiane) of Wilson, North Carolina; a special goddaughter, Starmaine Kearney, and a special granddaughter, ZyMiracle Kearney, both of Wilson, North Carolina; special lifelong friends from the Darden High School Class of 1958; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.
