Mr. John "Nick" Haywood High, 91, of 311-A East Nash Street, Elm City, NC, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2020, at Accordius Health, 1804 Forest Hills Road, Wilson, NC.
The graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Lane Street, Wilson, NC.
A public visitation has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Preceding him in death were: his first wife, Vivian Lathan High; his second wife, Esther Atkinson High; two sons, Jerome Lathan and Nathaniel Swinson; his parents, Man and Lena High; a special cousin with whom he was raised as a brother, Joe High.
Fond memories are left to: one son, Benjamin Ellis (Donna) of Elm City; three daughters, Teresa High-Edwards (Curtis) of Wilson, NC, Tanya High-Pitt (Donald) of Charlotte, NC and Dezirae Coley (Breanna) of Wilson, NC; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Kiya, Stephanie (Tony), Benjamin Jr., David (Hope), Vinson (Shon) and Cornelius (Regina); fourteen great grandchildren, Tynageja, Jayvyn, David, Markalen, Antonio Jr., London, Cimajai, Rodrick, Delwana, Atila, Danyell, Clarence, Dequia and Teyshawn; three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, including a special nephew, LaShawn Hall, cousins, including a special cousin, Nancy High, other relatives and loving friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
