James Edward Ward, Sr.

Mr. James Edward Ward, Sr., 84, of 2513 Ward Blvd., Wilson, NC passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at his home.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm also at Stevens Funeral Home. 

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Strayhorn Ward; two sons, Harold Strayhorn and Thurman Simms; parents, Charlie Ward, Sr. and Henrietta Belcher Ward and sixteen siblings.

He leaves cherished memories to: two sons, Ronald Simms and James E. Ward, Jr. both of Wilson, NC; one daughter, Fernice Sellars ( Leslie) of Wilson, NC; sixteen grandchildren including Nitche Ward, whom he reared; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Ernestine Ward and Martha Jane Ward both of Washington,DC; one brother, Leonard Ward, Sr. of Washington,DC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
