Gordon Ronnell Hines Obituary

Gordon Ronnell Hines, known by many as “Peaches” was born on October 12, 1957, in Wilson, North Carolina to the now late Mamie Hines and Benjamin Hines.  He transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, March 29, 2019, at his home in Fuquay-Varina, NC.  The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 12 noon at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.

Gordon received his formal education in the Wilson County Public School System, graduating from Fike High School in 1975.  Following graduation, he entered the United States  Army. Later in life, he attended Wake Tech Community College to study Business Administration until his health prevented him to continue classes.

Gordon loved life and the joys it gave him through his family and friends. He was a proud man with a low key and laidback demeanor. Gordon was a very sharp dresser as he loved fine clothes and jewelry. He will truly be missed by family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.

Gordon Hines was preceded in death by: his parents,  Mamie Louise Hines and Benjamin Hines; one sister, Bernadette Hines; his devoted maternal grandparents, Dollie and Louis Hines, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Amos and Gladys Hines; one uncle, Louis Hines III and his aunt, JoAnn Abdul

He leaves loving and lasting memories to: his daughter, Nikita C. Hines of Charlotte, NC; his stepdaughters, Shion Haskins and Juanita Haskins both of Wilson NC; one          granddaughter, Kailee Barnes of Charlotte, NC; stepgrandchildren, Tevin Haskins, C.J. Adams, Jaiya Haskins and Jakiyah Haskins; one great-grandchild; one sister, Angela Hines of Wilson NC; four brothers, James Hines of Wilson NC and Velinzo Hines of Texas, Frankie Hines of Georgia and Reggie Hines of Wilson;  five aunts, Martha Hines, Mary Hines, Dianne Williams of Bronx, New York, Peggy Hines and Sonja Bloodworth of Wilson; one Uncle, Harry Hines of Lakeland, Florida; his step-mother, Sheila Hines of Wilson NC; one step-sister Kyri Campbell of   Wilson NC; two step-brothers, William Pender of Raleigh NC and Victor Allen of Dumfries, VA; one god-daughter, Veleka Davis of Virginia; former wife & friend Irene Hines of Rocky Mount, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

The public viewing will be from 3:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Friday, April 5, 2019 at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, James Hines, 210 Finch St. SE, Wilson, NC.
