Funeral service for Mr. Garrett E. Rawlings, 75, is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2020, at 2:00 pm and will be held at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, North Carolina. Pastor Braxton Bowser will deliver the Words of Comfort. Mr. Rawlings will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, receiving Full Military Rites at a later date.
A public visitation will be Saturday, June 13, 2020, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, North Carolina.
Garrett was preceded in death by his wife, Joan B. Rawlings, his father, Elwyn G. Rawlings, and his mother Dazee C. Rawlings.
Precious and lasting memories are cherished by his three devoted children whom he deeply loved, Dr. Tabatha Rawlings-McDowell (Roy) of Nashville, NC; Mrs. Cathleen Rawlings-Moye (Erik) of Suffolk, VA; and Mr. Joseph Bernard Rawlings (Vanessa) of Greensboro, NC; six grandchildren, Brittney McDowell of Nashville, NC; Christopher Moye of Suffolk, VA; Erika Moye of Richmond, VA; Quintin Carter Rawlings of Covington, GA, Jahvonte Rawlings of Covington, GA, and Tamia Chapman of Wilson, NC; one great-grandchild, Kyro Moye of Suffolk, VA; one brother, Mr. Oliver Rawlings (Claire) of Baltimore, MD and a special cousin, Tommy Wiggins of Washington, DC whom he loved like a brother. A close friend and caregiver, Ms. Deborah Rosell of Clinton, MD; and a host of nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
