Ethel Mae Ellis Obituary

Ms. Ethel Mae Ellis, 79, of 308 Seven Hills Annex Road West, Wilson, NC, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, at her home.

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. Evangelist Geraldine Whitley will deliver the message. The burial will follow in the Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Lane Street, Wilson, NC.

A public viewing is scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years; Roosevelt Ellis, Sr., one daughter, Yvonne  Ellis; four sisters four, Nellie Braswell, Daisy Fuller, Ann Sharpe and Rosetta Foreman; and two sisters-n-law, Beatrice Leach and Marie Speight.

Peggy leaves her precious memories to her pride and joy son, Orlando Ellis, Sr. (Faye) of the home; son, Roosevelt Ellis, Jr. (Diane), one daughter, Annette Lucas (Tony); all of Wilson, NC; one Godson, Gregory “ Pee Wee” Barnes (Tammy) of Wilson, NC; twelve grandchildren, Shaniqua Jones, Erica Ellis, Orlando Ellis, Jr., Tamika Poole, Terrance Ellis, Travis Ellis, Keswic Ellis, Lashonda Ellis, Marco Ellis, Ivan Ellis, Jalisa Blount and Brittany Iman; eighteen great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Bunch (Sammy), Fannie Mae Poole (Sunny), Patricia Jones (Willie), Annie Edwards, and Cora Murchison; three brothers, Roy Batts, Curtis Batts, and Maurice Batts; special nieces and nephews, Selena Fayson, Jennie Marie Williams, Janice Batts-Wade, Ruby Johnson and David Foreman; two special friends, Hattie Pearl Sutton and Tammy Cameron, and a host of other relatives and friends. She will also be missed by her faithful dog, Milo.

Special thanks to her son, Orlando and his family who lovingly, provided assistance with her care in recent years, and a special granddaughter, Shaniqua who unselfishly cared for her grandmother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
