Ellen Wooten Obituary

Mrs. Ellen Gray Wooten, 87, of  1804 Forest Hills Road, Wilson, NC, passed away on January 29, 2020 at Accordius of Wilson, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC. Apostle Michael Hargrove will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm with the family present to receive friends from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Mrs. Wooten was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Sharpe, Sr. and her second husband, Wiley C. Wooten; one son, Willie Sharpe, Jr.; three sisters, Ida Epps, Delores Epps and Bettie Hinton; three brothers, Willie Epps, Jesse Epps and James Epps; a very close friend and piano partner, Gladys M.Jenkins.

She leaves cherished memories to: three daughters, Carolyn Bullock and Pastor Michelle Hargrove (Michael) both of Wilson, NC and Linda Bynum (Jerry) of Elm City, NC; one son, Leon Sharpe (Peggy) of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren, Tonya (Shon), Tawana (Nikki), Sharmayne (Little Ellen), Carrington (Missy) and Willie (Dwayne); twelve great grandchildren; eight adopted grandchildren; one sister, Joyce Moreno' (Juan) of Rocky Mount, NC; four brothers, Edward Epps (Lena), Albert Epps, Bennie Epps (Dorothy) and Leroy Epps (Selma) all of Rocky Mount, NC;  two special nieces, Gloria Williams of Goldsboro, NC and Shirley Howard of Dudley, NC; a special nephew, whom she helped to rear, Terry Epps Greenbelt of MD;  a host of other nieces, nephews, god children, family and friends including a grand dog, Roxie Hargrove.

Arrangements are entrusted to Steven Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
