Elder Dorothy Elizabeth Hammonds

Elder Dorothy Elizabeth Hammonds, 90, of 5410 Ward Blvd, Wilson, NC passed away on Monday, March 29, 2021, at the Brian Center of Wilson, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at St. Rose Church of Christ, 605 Douglas Street S., Wilson, NC. Pastor Tyrone Haney will deliver the words of comfort. The burial will following Rest Haven Cemetery,1717 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.

A public walk-through visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 2, 2021,  from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m., at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Dorothy was proceeded in death by: her parents, Edward “Eddie” Dew and Beatrice Kearney Dew; two sisters, Lena Mae McCauley and Clarissa Hunter; and two brothers, Walter Elbert Dew and Markus Henry C. Dew.

Left to forever cherish Dorothy’s memories are: two sisters, Beatrice D. Dawson of Wilson, North Carolina and Rosa L. Dew of Suitland, Maryland; three brothers, Edward Dew of Washington, DC, James Douglas Dew (Sonya) of Riverside, California, and Robert Eugene Dew (Virginia) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, including a special cousin, Frances Butler of Pennsylvania, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, North Carolina, 27893.
