Obituary

Mr. Douglas “ Lonnie, Sr.” or “Buddy” McArthur Whitfield, 77, of 5910 Hwy. 903 S., Snow Hill, NC passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021.  

The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  The burial will follow in St. Delight Cemetery, Walstonsburg, NC.

The public walk-through visitation is scheduled for Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at Stevens Funeral Home.  At other times, the family will be meeting at the home of his daughter, Cassandra Blount, 202 S. Virginia Street, Goldsboro, NC.

Mr. Whitfield was preceded in death by: one daughter, Hazel Grace Moore; his parents, Lonnell Whitfield & Lula Pridgen Whitfield; his siblings, Mary Morgan, Dorothy Exum, Walter Whitfield, Willie Herman Whitfield,  Johnnie Milton Whitfield and Cleo Farmer.

He leaves many loving and cherished memories to:  his wife, Dorothy Moore Whitfield of the home; two sons, Keith Bizzell of LaGrange, NC and Lonnie McArthur Whitfield of Wilson; two daughters, Cassandra Jeanette Blount of Goldsboro, NC and Christel Rae Whitfield of Henderson, NC; eighteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Linda Whitfield Darden (Horace) of Snow Hill, NC; one brother, Wallace Best of NJ; Brother-in-law, Leamon Morgan of LaGrange, NC; five sisters-in-law, Erma Hudson of Greenville, NC, Phyllis Parker (Charles) of Wilson, NC, Ann Gramling (Howard) of Charlotte, NC, Ada Finch of Wilson, NC and Joan Williams of Connecticut; three brothers-in-law, Russell Moore of Wilson, NC, Harold Moore of Greenville, NC and Ray Moore (Brenda) of Wilson, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a special nephew, Percy Lee Pridgen.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.
