Ms. Bettye W. Garner, 84, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Wake Med Raleigh Campus, in Raleigh, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for 2:30p.m.on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at the Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Bishop L.N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.
The public visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 25, 2021, from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm, prior to the funeral service at The Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home,1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Bettye enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, reading and studying the Bible, doing crossword puzzles, sending and receiving cards, checking in on family and friends and praying with her prayer partners. Her favorite quotes were “May the work I’ve done speak for me”, “Let it go over your head” and “I tries to live a Christian life”.
She leaves to cherished memories to: one daughter, Evangelist Bobbie Jean Ward of Raleigh, N.C.; two grandchildren, Special Allen and Robert Allen both from Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Joan Ward Farmer, Annie Doris Ward and Dianne Ward Davis all of Wilson, N.C.; two nieces and one nephew raised in the home as sisters and a brother, Robert Ward (Sebrina) and Chekela Farmer both of Wilson, N.C. and Theretha Ward Evans (Torrey) of Greensboro, N.C.; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Buckner and Chattie (Robert) Cameron both of Washington, D.C. and Alice Stokes (Willie) of Hampton, S.C.; one brother-in-law, Ronnie Garner (Lori) of Aztex, New Mexico; one aunt, Naomi Kent of Nashville, N.C.; a host of nieces, nephews including a special nephew William “JuneBug” Moore who passed away in 2021 cousins including a special cousin and sister in Christ Evangelist Robena Cox; many friends, including her best friends and prayer partners, Sister June Cunningham and Sister Louise Harrison; a special friend who was like a brother, Charlie “Chuck” Joyner; and her daughter’s father Preston Dunston.
