Ms. Betty Jean Newsome, 86, of Galveston, Texas passed away on January 23, 2026.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC.  Evangelist Quincy Spell will officiate.  

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026 at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  At other times, the family will receive friends at 640 Cemetery Street, Wilson, NC and will also assemble there on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
