Benjamin E. Smith Obituary

Mr. Benjamin E. Smith, 73, of  4305 Tap Ridge Court, Wilson, NC, passed away on March 10, 2020 at Wilson Medical Center.

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday March 15, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC. Bishop Elect Curtis Artis will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by: his parents, James Mitchell Smith and Pauline Ellis Smith; two brothers, Jimmie Smith and James Smith.

He leaves cherished memories to: his wife of 42 years, Barbara Jones Smith of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Terry (Maurice) of Wilson, NC and Debra Smith of Bailey, NC; four grandchildren, Infinity Jones, Jah'Ziya Davis, and Daveah Horne all of Wilson, NC and Brittne Smith of Wendell, NC; three great grandchildren, Kyler Wilson, NC, Mikayla Bioh and Tekiria Tisdale both of Wendell, NC; two sisters, Annie Thompson (James E.) and Lizzie Smith both of Wilson, NC; two brothers, Robert Smith (Linda) of Rocky Mount, NC and George Smith of Wilson, NC; two uncles, Jonah Ellis (Joyce) and James Bobby Ellis both of Lucama, NC; six aunts, Ruth Ward, Bettie Chestnut and Katherine Edmondson (Augusta) all of Lucama, NC, Beatrice Hopkins (Eddie) and Olivia Adams both of Wilson, NC and Queenesther Young of Jacksonville, FL; mother-in-law, Bernice Jones of Lucama, NC; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Smith of Washington, DC and Minister Dianne Jones of Lucama, NC; three brothers-in-law, Darnell Jones of Wilson, NC, James Jones and Randy Jones both of Lucama, NC; goddaughter, Shameka Locus of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including, special friends, David Blalock  and Willie Gray both of Lucama, NC, Bishop Willie Britt and Madgeline Artis both of Wilson, NC, Lawrence Jones of Wilson, NC and Keisha James of Wilson, NC.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ms. Jennifer Terry, 4522 Red Haven Court, Wilson, NC, where they will assemble on Sunday at 1:00 pm in preparation for the funeral procession. 

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
