Alton Ray Barnes, Sr.

Mr. Alton Barnes, Sr., 67, of 1007 Tarboro Street, Wilson, NC passed away on June 25, 2022, at Genesis Assisted Living, Mt. Olive, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, July 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, 1717 Bishop L. N. Forbes Street, Wilson, NC.

The public walk-through visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.

Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by:  his parents, Robert Barnes, Sr. and Irene Taylor Barnes and two siblings, Larry Donnell Barnes and Annie Theresa Barnes.

He leaves loving and cherished memories to:  three sons, Durwood "Pokey" Lynch and Alton Ray Barnes, Jr., both of Wilson, NC and Clifton LeMont Barnes of Atlanta, GA; one daughter, Latossia Renee Joyner of Rocky Mount, NC; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; three sisters, Mattie Delois Barnes of Wilson, NC, Verlene Barnes of Washington, DC and Roberta Irene Barnes of Elm City, NC; two brothers, Artemus Taylor (Joyce) of Washington, DC and Robert Barnes, Jr. of Lucama, NC; a bonus brother, Tyrone Mercer of Rocky Mount, NC; a bonus sister, Vanessa Mercer of Elm City, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
