Tony Melvin

Funeral services for Mr. Tony Melvin, known to all as "Frog", will be held Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC at 12:00 pm.  The burial will follow in the Hamilton Burial Gardens, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.  Pastor Damieon Royal will deliver the Words of Comfort.

Tony ( Frog) Melvin was born March 20, 1962 to Mamie Lee Melvin and …..He departed his earthly life Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Frog was reared in Wilson County and received his formal education in Wilson County Public Schools. He graduated from Ralph L. Fike Class of 1985.  Following his educational endeavors, he pursued his career in the restaurant business.  He later began working with Tobacco Processors where he remained for many years. However, Frog always had a passion for cooking, (as he attempted to sing Patti La’Belle songs) and making people laugh! To know Him was to Love Him because he never met a stranger.

Frog was preceded in death by his Mother, Ms. Mamie Lee Melvin;  three sisters, Evon Pippiens, Patricia Ann Bailey and Annie Ruth Melvin; one brother, Abdul Azi; two Great Aunts as well as Friends Mrs. Minnie Ruth Melvin Hobbs and Ms. Odell Briggs;  and several close Cousins.

His memories will forever be cherished by: his four Sisters, Mary Lilly Melvin, Barbara Jean Eatmon, Melissa Batts, and Cynthia Johnson all of Wilson; three brothers, Ronnie Melvin, Jerome Melvin and Anthony Melvin all of Wilson; a very Special Cousin, Judy Carol Melvin of the home and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Cousins, other relatives and friends including Best Friends Tony Briggs, Gail Williams, Ben Rogers, Precious McNeil and Tonie Bug!

A public visitation will be held on Friday, May 30, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.  At other times, the family will be receiving friends at 407 Warren Street, Wilson, NC.
