Simon Barnes, Jr.

Mr. Simon Barnes, Jr., 88, of  4310  NC Highway 42 E., Wilson, NC, passed away on august 6, 2018 at Wilson Medical Center.

The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Simon Grove Holiness Church, 4334 NC Highway 42, Wilson, NC. Bishop Herbert Williams will deliver the eulogy.

Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Barnes, Sr. and Rosa McCoy Barnes; one sister, Catherine Applewhite; two brothers, Carl Barnes and Purley "P.D." Barnes.

He leaves many cherished memories to: his wife of the home, Laconia Barnes; one son, Ronald Barnes of Winston Salem, NC; two daughters, Anita Barnes Wright (Randy) of Greenville, NC and Joyce Barnes Pleasants (Troy) of Wilson, NC; three grandchildren, Ashely Mercedes Barnes of Los Angeles, CA, Dexter Simon Barnes Wright of Greenville, NC and Constance Simone Pleasants of Wilson, NC; three sisters, Margaret Payne and Vivian Rollins both of Winston Salem, NC and Mildred Best of Wilson, NC; three sisters-in-law, Brenda Barnes of Jaimica, NC, Bertha LaLuz (Raphael) of Wilson, NC and Alice Mitchell (Leon) of Milledgeville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relative and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
