Ms. Shirley Mercer Darden, 57, of 307 Jefferson Street, Wilson, NC, passed away on September 24, 2018.

The funeral service is Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Saint John Apostolic Church in Black Creek, NC.Pastor Brenda Lewis will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC 

A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Preceding Shirley in death were; her parents, Beatrice and James Mercer; one son, Tyrone Mercer; six brothers, Tommy Mercer, James Mercer “Buddy Boy”, John Mercer “Shaq”, Randolph Mercer “Pig”, George Mercer and Bobby Ray Mercer; three sisters, Dorothy Little, Barbara Diane Mercer and Helen Ellis; her mother-in-law, Mable Lee Towns; a special niece and nephew, Ebony Harris and Bernard Winstead; three best friends, Sheila Joyner, Inez Chatman and Mary Ann Mercer.

Shirley leaves many fond and cherished memories to; her husband, Milton Darden, Sr.; one son, Milton Darden, Jr. (Quaneisha); two daughters, Shameka Darden and Tameka Darden; nephew, Marquise Johnson; three grandson’s, Jakeim Darden-Artis, Tykeim Darden Murphy and Zykeim Darden; three granddaughters, Jazzmin Smith Ja’milya Darden-Artis and Alaysia Lucas; seven sisters, Lena Mae Morgan, Louella Barnes, Martha Inman, Mary Mercer, Josephine Mercer, Barbara Jean Smith (McArthur) and Sarah Ann Winstead; one brother, Sylvester Mercer; special nieces, Lisa Hayes, Lizzie Cooper and Brenda Batts; special nephews, Cleveland Mercer and Darnell Smith; in-laws, Vincent K.C. Darden (Diane), Stephanie Allen, Tina Sharpe (Joseph), Bernice Patterson, Pamela Towns, Tammy Towns and Robin Daughtridge (SE) and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson NC.
