Ms. Norma Jean Barnes, 74, passed away at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC, on December 6, 2018.
The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street, Ext, Wilson, NC.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC with a wake service from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm also at Stevens Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. Milton Devon Barnes, 1104 Parthree Drive, Wilson, NC, where they will assemble on Saturday at 11:00 am in preparation for the funeral procession.
Norma Jean was preceded in homegoing by her parents, Naomi Howard and Paul Sherrod; her siblings, Bobby Sherrod; Wilbert Sherrod; Bobby “SugarFoot” Davis; Virginia Jones; Patricia Dew; and Alma R. Davis.
Precious memories of Jeanine are left to: her husband, Cleamon Barnes; three children, Regina Frost, Milton D. Barnes and Clementine Barnes; three grandchildren, Michael Frost, Chavon Henderson and Mia Barnes; her brothers - Collie, Leonard, and Toby Sherrod; and Shirley G. Davis; her sisters, Hazel Lucas; Helen Hall; Erlene King; Doris Ephraim; Lula Mitchell; and, Margaret Taylor; a very special cousin, Cheryl Larry; a multitude nieces, including a special niece, Kim Morgan and nephews, including two special nephews, Tee Taylor and Kelvin Barnes. Norma Jean’s two lifelong BFF’s, Marjorie Sizemore and Minnie Artis, Len and Mary Turnbull, her close friends for over 35 years , Charles and Barbara Robinson and Joey and Queenie Gaines of Hyattsville, MD will be at a loss when it comes time to share their greatest secrets and the latest good news about family and friends. Her family – husband, Cleamon, and, three children – will miss their beloved Matriarch.
