Minnie Catherine Chatman Obituary

Mrs. Minnie Catherine Chatman, 60, of 100 Coley Circle, Lucama, NC, passed away on April 9, 2018. 

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Tabernacle Temple of Jesus Christ, 1601 Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC.  Apostle Cathy Farmer will officiate and Bishop Henry Cox will preside.  Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC with an inspirational wake service from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm.  At other times, the family will be meeting at the home of her sister, Janice Kent, 6013 Lucama Road, Lucama, NC and will also assemble there on Saturday at 12 noon in preparation for the funeral procession. 

Mrs. Chatman was preceded in death by one son, Taveres Bethea; her father, Divious Lee Locus and one brother, Dennis James Locus.

She leaves cherished memories to: her husband, James Ray Chatman of the home; one son, Nydea Glenn of Wilson, NC; three daughters, Ericka Jenkins of Raleigh, NC, Shawanda Canady and Akenya Harris, both of Wilson, NC; six grandchildren, Jaquana Chatman and Jaquan Chatman, both of Wilson, NC, Gekira Jenkins of Winston-Salem, NC, Knekolas Bethea, Talia Bethea and Khristian Bethea, all of Smithfield, NC; her mother, Frances Artis Locus of Lucama, NC;  three sisters, Janice Kent and Brenda Locus, both of Lucama, NC and Misty Locus of Wilson, NC; three brothers, Apostle Ricky Locus (Bessie) of Kenly, NC, Prophet Tony Locus (Ada) of Raleigh, NC and Elder Billie Locus (Mintecia) of Dallas, GA; Mother-in-law, Ruby Lee Chatman of Lucama, NC; four brothers-in-law, Terry Chatman of Lucama, NC, Anthony Taylor of Richmond, VA, Johnny Hinnant of Wilson, NC and Dennis Oxendine of Arizona; five sisters-in-law, Brenda Carter (Jasper) of Lucama, NC, Gwendolyn Hinnant (Anthony) of Black Creek, NC, Veronica Pender of Wilson, NC, Cindy Oxendine and Priscillo Oxendine, both of Baltimore, MD; special friend, Patricia Blackston of Wilson, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
