Mrs. Mary Batts Hagans, 95, of 128 Garner Street SE, Wilson, NC, passed away on August 29, 2018 at her home.
The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC. Pastor Richard Hagans will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
Mrs. Hagans was preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Hagans; son, Earl Douglas Batts; parents, Charlie Batts and Lena Hart Batts; four brothers, George Batts, Guffie Batts, Willie Batts and Julius Batts; two sisters, Mary Ruth Barnes and Bernie Batts; two stepsisters, Flossie Parker and Annie Braswell.
She leaves many cherished memories to: two sons, Pastor Richard Hagans (Felicia ) of Greenville, NC and Larry Hagans (Jean) of Wilson, NC; two daughters, Vestia Mae Hagans of the home and Ida Ruth Hagans-Bryant (George) of Lexington Park, MD; fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Louise Batts of Wilson, NC; sister-in-law, Gladys Gray; two special caregivers, Brenda Bailey and Dorothy Higgs both of Wilson, NC; several loving children, whom she reared including, David Narron, Libba Narron Lewey and Suzi Narron Bevacqua, whom she reared from birth; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of Ms.Vestia Mae Hagans, 128 Garner Street SE, Wilson, NC, where they will assemble on Saturday at 12 Noon in preparation for the funeral procession.
Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
