Mr. Marvin Rountree, Sr., 80, of 1404 W. Thomas Street, Rocky Mount, NC, passed away on December 28, 2018. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 702 W. Raleigh Blvd., Rocky Mount, NC. Dr. Thomas L. Walker will officiate. The public viewing is scheduled for Friday, January 4, 2018 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC and Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. The burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Ext., Wilson, NC. The family will be receiving friends at 1404 W. Thomas Street, Rocky Mount, NC.

Mr. Rountree was preceded in death by: his parents, Herbert Rountree, Sr. and Elizabeth Batts Rountree; five brothers, Herbert Rountree, Jr., Roland Rountree, James Rountree, Floyd Rountree and Willie Rountree; and one sister, Doris Rountree Farrington.

He leaves many loving and cherished memories to: his wife, Betty Rountree of Rocky Mount; one son, Marvin Rountree, Jr.; four daughters, Beatice Sumner (Reginald) of Raleigh, NC, Marthelia Powell (Garry), Willet Kearney (Willie) and Melanie Rountree, all of Rocky Mount, NC; fourteen grandchildren, Katurah, Kamil, Garry, Jr., Marvin, III, William, Chelsea, Bryan, Anfernee, Jessica, Alexus, Alex, Jaedon, Devin and Trevor; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Daisy Barnes and Ruby Staton (Tommy Lee), both of Wilson, NC; one brother, Jesse Rountree (Inez) of Elm City; six brothers-in-law, Cleveland Kelly of NY, Milton Kelly (Ida) and Michael Kelly, both of Rocky Mount, Winford Kelly (Doris) of Boston, MA, Wayne Kelly (Gail) of Wilson, and Ervin Kelly (Ella) of Pinetops; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Morton (Felix) of Rocky Mount and Lucille Rountree of Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including two special nieces, Jeanette Atkinson and Margaret Mincey, both of Wilson.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
