John McKinley Moore, Sr.

Mr. John M. Moore, Sr., 97,  of 4610 Rosebud Church Road, Elm City, NC, passed away on June 4, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Vaughn's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church 4966 Elm City Road S., Elm City, NC. Bishop Lynwood Batts will deliver the eulogy..

Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden, Lane Street, Ext, Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Mr. Moore was preceded in death by: his wife, Gladys Barnes Moore; his parents, John Henry Moore and Armincia Cone Moore; two sisters, Alma Gray Moore and Ruth Moore Blount; four brothers, Wade Moore, Carl Moore, Ozzie Moore and Leonard Moore.

He leaves to cherish many fond memories:  six children, John McKinley Moore, Jr. (Elizabeth) of Dudley, NC, Gladys Inez Moore-Davis of Rocky Mount, NC, Bernard Moore (Ernestine) of El Paso, TX, James Walton Moore (Elizabeth) of Wilson, NC, Bernice Moore Pitt (Oscar) of Brown Summit, NE and Janice Moore of Fayetteville, NC; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Vernesser Jones of Philadelphia, PA and Ruby M. Gray (Joseph) of Denver, CO; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home where they will assemble on Saturday at 1:00 pm in preparation for the funeral procession.
