John Newkirk

Mr. John Herbert Newkirk, 98, of Wilson, NC, passed away on September 15, 2018 at Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center .

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 22, 2018 at  1:00 pm at  Evening Light Holiness Church 208 S. Pender Street, Wilson, NC. Burial will follow in Hamilton Burial Garden, Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm  at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Preceding John in death are: one son, Tony Newkirk; his parents, Euray Newkirk and Mary Lou Hall Newkirk; two sisters, Lillie Ruth Leake and Lena Mae Hoskins; one brother, George Henry Newkirk.

He leaves many loving and cherished memories to: his wife, Mrs. Theresa Newkirk; one son, Larry Newkirk (Dorothy) of Rocky Mount, NC; four daughters, Annie McLeod (Anthony) of Savannah, GA, Doris Pickett (John) and Linda Hendricks both of Wilson, NC and Toni Best of Black Creek, NC; eight grandsons, Larry Newkirk, Jr. of Princeville, NC, Rayvonne Newkirk and Willie Frieson III both of Wilson, NC, Gary Newkirk of Rocky Mount, NC, Cetrell Newkirk of Charlotte, NC, Wesley Baines, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, Sigman Farmer III and John Farmer both of Savannah, GA; seven granddaughters, Kimberly Newkirk, Cornetha Applewhite, Lachelle Archer all of Wilson, NC, Tina Newkirk of Newport News, VA, Morgan Best of Manhattan, NY, Oerial Best of Portsmouth, VA and Shona Best of Black Creek, NC; three special friends, Clarence Ward, Marvin Beamon and George Speight; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other family and friends.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin  Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
