Mrs. Ethyl Wooten Barnes, 87, of 1300 Queen Street, Wilson, NC, passed away on January 12, 2019 at her home.
The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Jackson Chapel First Missionary Baptist Church, 571 Nash Street, SE, Wilson, NC. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Extension, Wilson, NC.
A public visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by: her husband, Leonard Barnes, Jr.; parents, William Wooten and Rosa Bell Troy Wooten; brother, W.T. Wooten, and sister Rosa Lee Wooten.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her children, Carolyn Y. Barnes of Chesapeake, VA, Leonardo L. Barnes (Cynthia) of Durham, NC and Veronica F. Barnes of the home; four sisters, Ruth Lennon and Eunice Virgil of Bladenboro, NC Hazel Kelly of Elizabethtown, NC and Lois Hawkins of Voorheers, NJ; three brothers, Oscar Wooten, Gilbert Wooten (Lois), and William Wooten (Mittie) all of Lumberton, NC; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,and so many friends including, her adopted daughter, Deborah Savage,and adopted grandson, De’Ante Savage. Special thanks to Alparata Jones Briggs, Jocelyn Hoskins, Juletta Hoskins, and so many more for enveloping her in your love. She loved you all. Last but not least, her Fur-Baby, Michael and three Fur-Grandbabies, which tried to take care of her or to at least make her smile.
The family will receive friends at the home where they will assemble on Saturday at 11:00 am in preparation for the funeral procession.
