Earl Douglas Batts Obituary

Mr. Earl Douglas Batts, 72, of 804 Manchester Street, Wilson, NC, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home. 

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, May 13, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Contending For The Faith Church Ministries, 1006 Academy Street, Wilson, NC.  Apostle Charles Lewis will officiate and Elder Dameion Royal will preside. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Lane Street Extension, Wilson, NC. 

The public visitation is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2018  from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  

Mr. Batts was preceded in death by his father, James Manning and John Richard Hagans, who raised him. 

He leaves many cherished memories to: his wife, Louise B. Batts of the home; four daughters, Wanda Michelle Batts, Tammy Horne (Walter), and Stephanie Lamb (Kelvin) all of Wilson, NC and Ayanna Batts of Philadelphia, PA; one son, Johnnie Batts (Alice) of Wilson, NC; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; his mother, Mary Batts Hagans;

step mother, Georgia Belle Manning;  five stepsons, Aaron Rountree, of Wilson, NC, Lenny Jenkins (Vera), Quinton Jenkins, Max Jenkins (Shirlene) and Dwan Jenkins (Stella) all of Pennsylvania; three stepdaughters, Kim Cox (Ricky) of Wilson, NC, Pamela Jenkins and Dana Cooper (Stephan) both of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Vestia Hagans of Wilson, NC and Ida Ruth Bryant (George) of Lexington Park Maryland; two brothers, Richard Hagans (Felicia) of Greenville, NC and Larry Hagans (Gloria Jean) of Wilson,, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home, where they will assemble on Sunday at 1:00 pm in preparation for the funeral procession. 

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
