Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Jean Hardy Ferguson will be held Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 209 N. Pender Street, Wilson, NC at 12:00 pm.  Reverend Rogers E. Randall will officiate.

Dorothy Jean Hardy-Ferguson was born on April 27, 1058 in Wilson, NC to Gwendolyn Hardy and Willis Hardy.  She departed this earthly realm on May 26, 2018 while at Wilson Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. 

Dorothy was reared in Wilson County, NC and received her formal education with the Wilson County School System.  Following her graduation in 1976 from Saratoga High School, she continued her secondary education with Elizabeth City State University.  In 1979, Dorothy graduated from Elizabeth City State University with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics with a minor in Music.

Following her educational endeavors, she entered the workforce.  During that time, she met the love of her life, Leroy Ferguson.  On May 28, 1983, Dorothy Hardy became Dorothy Hardy-Ferguson, to which two children were born.  She remained a faithful and virtuous woman to her husband for 34 years, 11 months and 28 days. 

Dorothy joined the church at a very young age.  She was very active in her church, serving in many capacities: IG Choir, mixed choir, deacon board and elder board.  She loved her church and she loved the Lord.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Willis Hardy and two brothers, Willis Bruce Hard and Donald  Nabors.

Dorothy Jean Hardy-Ferguson leaves a legacy of precious memories to: Leory Ferguson, her loving and  devoted husband; two children that adored her, Tiffany Williams (Sam) of Wilson, NC and Kevin Ferguson (Crystal) of Charlotte, NC; her mother, Gwendolyn Hardy; one    sister, Angela Hardy-Cross (Walter) of Knoxville, TN; one loving sister-in-law, Bessie Hardy of Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren, Nyree, Janaye, Khloe, Indiyah,    Makayla, Kaiden and Stephan; one niece, Michelle Davis  (Melvin) of Virginia Beach, VA; one nephew, D’Angelo Hardy of Virginia, VA; her mother-in-law, Peggy Ferguson; three brothers-in-law, Levon Ferguson and Donell Ferguson (Tonia) both of Red Springs, NC and Fredrick Ferguson (Kinsa) of Gastonia, NC; two special friends, Laurice Hewitt of Charleston, SC and Lois Roberts of  Wilson, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2018, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy, Wilson, NC.  Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfamilyfuneralhome.com or faxed to 252-991-5849.
