Dorothy Darden

Ms. Dorothy Marie "Ree" Darden, 55, of Elm City, NC passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Elm City Assisted Living in Elm City, NC. The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, NC.  Pastor Cassandra Darden-Latham will officiate and burial will follow in St. Delight Cemetery, Walstonburg, NC.  

She was preceded in death by:  her daughter, Quaneisha Ruffin, her parents, James and Barbara Darden and one brother, Clarence Darden.

Ree, as she was affectionately called, is survived by: one grandchild, Shanaya Ruffin of Wilson; two brothers, Dennis Darden and his wife, Marjorie, of Fountain, NC and Danny Darden of Germany; one sister, Connie Ballard and her husband, Clyde, of Wilson; four uncles, James Dixon, Curtis Lee Dixon, Larry Dixon and Curtis Allen; seven aunts, Annie Pearl Pearson, Sarah Smith, Beatrice Thomas, Faye Dixon, Minnie Ruth Jones, Caroline Jenkins and Cleo Darden; a long-time friend and companion, Stanley Patterson of Wilson; a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including two very special friends, Ellen Melvin and Carol Stevens, both of Wilson, NC.

The public viewing will be Friday, May 25, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home.  The family will meet at Stevens Funeral Home on Saturday at 1:45 p.m in preparation for the funeral service.
