Mrs. Derbie Lucas Darden, 64, of Wilson, NC, passed away on September 29, 2019 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, October 6, 2019 at 1:30 pm at LN Forbes OFWB Church, 1800 Lane Street, Ext., Wilson, NC.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
An inspirational wake service will also be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Barnes Chapel Church, 1004 Railroad Street, Wilson, NC.
Derbie was preceded in death by: her parents, Charlie and Cleo Lucas; four siblings, Mary L. Walker, Elmo L. Lucas, Joyce A. Lucas and Bobby Earl Lucas (Pete).
Left to cherish her wonderful and loving memories are: her loving and devoted husband of twenty-one years, Larry D. Darden; three sons, Duwayne Lucas of Miami, FL, Reginald Lucas(Sharon) of Lanham, MD and Larry Darden, Jr. of Durham, NC; five sisters, Jackie Lucas-Pender (Donnie) of Elm City, NC, Valca Lucas-Dublin (Vincent) and Angela Hinnant both of Wilson, NC, Kaela Lucas of Winston Salem, NC and Mother Clara Shaw of Snow Hill, NC; three brothers, Joseph Joyner (Barbara) of San Diego, CA, Robert Joyner (Christine) of Camden, NJ and Elm Ray Hinnant (Robin) of Wilson, NC; one aunt, Linda Johnson of Richmond, VA; ten grandchildren, LaKeyia Lucas, LaQuita Lucas, Dawanda Lucas, Talisha Carrington, Duwayne Lucas, Kierra Queen, Nyya Gilchrist, Abigail Darden and Alison Darden ; six great grandchildren, Jariah Brantley, Daziah Brantley, Antonio Montiel, Jr., Delano Lucas, Damya Lucas, Dillion Lucas; eight sisters-in-law, Diane Williams (Kenneth), Joyce Darden, Wanda Darden, Beverly Adams, Sherrie Lomax (Max), Sheila Lucas, Dorothy Lucas and Faith Taylor; two brothers-in-law, Dwight Darden and Amos Adams; a special family friend, Daisy Boyd; special nephew and niece, Gerald and Rosalind Jones of Fairfax, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that she truly loved.
