David Reid Obituary

Mr. David Reid, 75, of Wilson, NC, passed away on February 18, 2019 in Greenville, NC.

The funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC. 

A public visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm also at Stevens Funeral Home.

David was preceded in death by: his mother, Gladys Ruth Reid Brown and step-father, whom helped raised him, George Otis Brown; his father, Columbus Edwards; two brothers, Nathaniel Reid and  Douglas Edwards and one sister, Mary Etta Winstead.

David leaves many precious and cherished memories to: his wife, Nancy Jean Reid of Stantonsburg, NC; two sons, Patrick Hamer (Michelle) of Cary, NC and Michael Reid (Debbie) of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Ellise Clarke (Alexander) of Virginia and Jackie Artis of Philadelphia, PA; two step-daughters; one step-son; four grandchildren. Maya, Tia Alexander and Almesha; one great grandchild, David Jordan; two brothers, George Otis Reid of Washington, DC and Odell Brown (Jena) of Walstonburg, NC; three sisters, Dora Ann Ruffin (Isaac) and Gladys Ruth Dixon both of Stantonsburg, NC and Lena Mae Winstead (Thurman) of Suitland, MD; two sisters-in-law, Leccie Edwards of Saratoga and Mildred Reid of White Oak, NC; one brother-in-law, Grover Lee Winstead of Saratoga, NC; two uncles, Lester Edwards of Greenville, NC and Riley Brown of Petersburg, VA; two aunts, Mattie Vail of Winterville, NC and Lucille Barnes of Greenville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, including a special nephew, Johnny Reid (Peggy) of Black Creek, NC, other relatives and friends, including two special friends, Lacy Whitted and Adam Freeman Artis both of Stantonsburg, NC.

Arrangements are by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
