Betty Jean Newby "McDougal" Dixon

Mrs. Betty Jean Newby "McDougal" Dixon, 75,  of 411 Vick Street, Wilson, NC, passed away on August 5, 2019 at her home.

The funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Evening Light Holines Church, 208 S. Pender Street, Wilson, NC. Entombment will be on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 10:00 am at Thomas Yelverton at Evergreen .

A public visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her first husband, Monroe G. McDougal and her second husband, Levie C. Dixon; her mother, Bettie Lee Reid Newby; one sister, Patricia Ann Newby Carr; one brother, Thomas Earl Newby and long time companion, Ernest L. Ward.

She leaves to cherish her legacy: two children, Monica McDougal Finch (Luther) and Anthony Monroe McDougal (Emmy); three grandchildren, Jessica Blair Finch, Nicolas C. McDougal and Anthony J. McDougal; two great grandchildren, Saniyah Davis and Khamia Scott; her father, Thomas Newby; six sisters, Ernestine Jones, Romain Jones, Gerald Francine Jones (Robert), Debra N. Parker (Ronald), Angela N. Farmer and Sylvia N. McLaurin Newby; four brothers, Charles Martin Newby, Reverend Donald Ray Newby (Diane), Jerry Newby and Michael Newby; two aunts, Hattie M. Martin and Daisy Bell Lucas; one uncle Bernard Newby (Verdell); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. 

The family will receive friends at the home where they will assemble on Sunday, one hour prior to the funeral at 1:00 pm, in preparation for the funeral procession.

Arrangements are entrusted to Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, Wilson, NC.
